SCI is committed to maintaining an on-going awareness of, as well as active involvement in, the development of state-of-the-art technology for use as part of an offender supervision program. In that regard, SCI maintains a position on the California legislatively established PC 9000 Committee tasked with researching GPS technology on behalf of the California Legislature. SCI also holds a position on a Working Group established by the American Probation and Parole Association and funded by the National Institute of Justice. | |||||

This Group was formed to develop a national Guide for current and future users of electronic monitoring technology. This guide will provide a detailed description of all known available technologies and will assist users in evaluating them as they develop and implement electronic monitoring programs of their own. It will also assist in knowledgably selecting a responsible, professional provider of these technologies. | ||||
